In the mood for firefox: my most used shortcut

I hate bookmarks

I dropped delicious

but the bookmark-keyword shortcut feature of firefox is a killer feature. I use that daily since a very long time.

95% of the time is to search on cpan, or to track for a ticket number in Six Apart bug tracking system.

  • First, I hit cmd-L, to position the curstor in the location bar
  • Then I type, p ObjectDriver
  • Firefox brings me to search.cpan.org with the ObjectDriver query

Another exemple is my cs <number> keyword for change set (subversion)

To set up a new keyword, all you need is to create a bookmark with that keyword in the 'keyword' field, and in the url, use %s to specify the place where your query should go (this is a basic placeholder)
